COMIC TALK TODAY

It's Wednesday and time for the Comic Talk Headlines with Dustin, aka, Generally Nerdy! Catch up on everything that's happening in the world of comic books, movies and TV on Tuesdays and Fridays and be sure to subscribe to get fresh daily content.

Jumping into TV news, there is only one major headline for this episode and it is the tragic passing of Riverdale actor and one time voice of Sub-Zero, Luke Perry. Last week Perry had a stroke and was bed ridden since. Before his stroke Perry filmed his part in the upcoming Tarantino film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which is based on the life of Charles Manson. In other Luke Perry news, Fox is apparently rebooting the 90210 series, and the entire original cast has signed on, EXCEPT Perry.

That's all for TV let's jump into movies now, because that's where the real meat is.

Finn Wolfhard is apparently a transplant from the late 80s. He is in a band that sounds like it came straight from the Alt Rock movement of the late 80s/early 90s. He is one of the leads on Stranger Things. And now he is in talks to be one of the new leads for the Ghostbusters 3 movie, along side Carrie Coon (whom you will likely remember from The Leftovers or Fargo).

Next, Deadline is reporting that Warner Brothers just ordered a script for a sequel to the Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt movie, Edge of Tomorrow.Cruise and Blunt are supposed to be returning along with the director of the original movie, Doug Liman.

ComicBookMovie.com is saying that Oscar Isaac is throwing his hat in the ring to try and play Solid Snake in the potential movie adaptation of Metal Gear Solid. The movie, which has reportedly been in development for about 2 or 3 years, is set to be helmed by Jordan Vogt Roberts. Vogt-Roberts took to twitter to voice his agreement with Isaac's desire, but saying they are a long way away from the casting part of the production.

Then we got a piece from Discussing Film about the Sony Universe of Marvel Characters, a.k.a the Spider-less-universe. There is apparently word that once the Marvel contract that has Sony and Disney sharing the Spider-Man character, the intent is to re-up that contract. That, though, doesn't necessarily mean we won't be seeing Peter Parker's alter ego in any of the Sony movies. With the Kraven movie being based largely on the "Kraven's Last Hunt" story arc from the comics, Sony might just introduce their OWN version of the webslinger. They also say that there are loose plans for a Spider-Man showing in the Venom sequel as well.

Wesley Snipes might be making his way into the MCU proper, reprising his role as Blade in a new "R" rated movie. It seems his teases last year of being in talks with Marvel for 2 potential projects might have legs afterall. Though to what extent he will be featured in the movie remains to be seen, because it is being reported that this new movie will be a passing of the torch to Blade's daughter.

Next we are talking about the Fox Marvel acquisition. Feige has been reportedly talking about his plans for the X-Men once the purchase finalizes (Which by the way seems to be showing potential for completion next month, as it just made it passed another road block in  Brazil.) Apparently, Feige's plan is to recast EVERYONE, save for Ryan Reynolds. It seems Deadpool's box office pull is enough to save him from recasting.
