Valiant Central

Every other week, Martin, D'Juan, and Travis gather together to discuss the latest coming out of the Valiant Comics universe. No reviews, just hard core discussion on books that we love.

Valiant Central is hosted by Martin Ferretti , D'Juan Hammonds and Travis Williams and produced by Martin Ferretti. Get in touch with us via Twitter, @valiant_central, by sending us an e-mail.

Valiant Central has released 196 episodes since launching on Jan 01, 2015

Get ready for an action-packed show filled with nerdy discussion as this week, Paul and Martin are joined by friend of the show Pedro Soto, and Mike Myers and Chris Campbell from the Valiant Podcast to talk comics.

We kick off with a little Book of Death talk, as everyone shares their positive stories of how the book's launch and reaction went at their local shops, the state of the comic industry, and why Diamond can't seem to get their stuff together.  We also talk a little Archie, Secret Six and Justice League, and finally let Mike chime in on one of the most underrated fantasy movies of all time, Dragonslayer. Also we wonder, why is Pedro hiding in the closet? Tune in to find out!

Be sure to check out Mike and Chris (along with friend of the show Darrell Taylor) on the Valiant Podcast.

Welcome to another episode of the Valiant Central Podcast!

In this episode, we are once again joined by our good friend Joshua Eves from the Valiant Effort and Ivar's Longbox podcasts to discuss the first issues of both Book of Death and Legends of the Geomancer. Be forewarned, if you haven't yet read those issues, there will be major spoilers again, but we hope that our discussion will help you understand the books a little more.

Additionally, be sure to check out the Annotated Book of Death #1 over at All-Comic.com for further in-depth analysis of the book.

We usually release new episodes on Friday but we wanted to wait until San Diego Comic Con 2015 to see if Valiant had any juicy announcements...and they kind of did. This week, Paul and Martin are joined by Brett Simon from the Talking Valiant podcast!

First, we talk about James Asmus taking over writing duties in Unity with issues #23 and #24 and discuss what this could mean for the future of Unity and whether it means the book is headed towards cancellation.

Then, we get into a heated discussion abou retailer incentives. It seems that Valiant is pretty happy with how the Book of Death sales went and would like to offer more retailer incentives in the future. We don't have any details yet, but we spend a good bit of time talking about whether we would buy yet another retailer incentive, whether it's fair to fans, and Martin goes on a bit of a rant about how mad these shenanigans are making him.

Be sure to check out Valiant Database to get tons of info on EVERY Valiant comic. We'll be back on Friday!

You know what happens on Fridays? A new episode of the Valiant Central Podcast is what!

Yes, we're back on schedule and we couldn't be more excited. Valiant had it's first ever Valiant Summit as they live streamed a panel through the Periscope app. There were some great new announcements including a whole slew of new One Dollar Debuts, Valiant's plans for X-O Manowar beyond issue 50, a new Dr. Mirage and Eternal Warrior book, and more. Paul and Martin sit and discuss the announcements and what their implications are for fans. If you weren't able to catch the live stream, you can probably still find it by downloading Periscope and finding Valiant Comics, or follow the links at All-Comic below.

You know what happens on Fridays? A new episode of the Valiant Central Podcast is what!

Be forewarned – Paul and I return to a solo episode of the podcast with a pain killer and liquor infused discussion that is not to be missed! We talk a little bit about our move to All-Comic, discuss Valiant sales numbers for May 2015, and a bit on the September solicitations. As we get into a discussion of X-O Manowar and Dead Drop, we look at some of what Marvel and DC are doing with their characters and discuss whether long-running characters should simply be allowed to die and replaced or if their stories should just keep getting rehashed to appease the fans.

As part of our discussion, we mentioned this terrific piece, Market Maven – Is the Wicked and the Divine in Trouble?, by Kieron Gillen.
